Discover the Reality of Your Union with God

SPOILER ALERT: You’re Going to Find Out There is NO Separation Between You and God
Have you ever felt like God was a distant figure behind a heavy curtain, someone you had to "reach" for or "find" through extreme effort? What if I told you that the curtain was torn 2,000 years ago, and the separation you feel today is not a spiritual reality, but simply a lack of awareness?
In a recent deep-dive conversation with my friend Daniel from Divine Align, we explored a truth that is so foundational and, although sprinkled throughout the Bible, many believers don’t miss it because it is hidden. We are talking about Divine Union, also known as, Divine Oneness. This isn't just a theological theory; it is the very will of Jesus Christ for your life and we will prove it below!
Divine Union (What Does it Really Mean?)
The concept of Divine Union—or "Oneness"—is often misunderstood as New Age, but it is actually a deeply Redemptive, Christ-centered reality. In John 17:22, Jesus prays a prayer that defines His Will and experience for us all: "I have given them the glory that You gave Me that they may be one as We are One."
Jesus wasn't praying for us to simply "get along" or have a nice church potluck. He was speaking about an ontological joining (Ontology is the branch of metaphysics dealing with the nature of being). In John 17:3, Jesus says, "Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true [supreme and sovereign] God, and [in the same manner know] Jesus [as the] Christ whom You have sent” (AMP). The Greek word for "know" in this passage is key.
In our modern English, "knowing" usually refers to intellectual facts. But in Greek, the word is Ginosko. This is the same word used in the Septuagint for the intimacy between a husband and wife. It denotes a deep, experiential union where two become one flesh.
Divine Union is the intimate, spiritual marriage between your human spirit and the Spirit of God. It is where your life and His intertwines, entangles, in joined together and becomes one! We literally read this in what the Spirit of God revealed through the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 6:17 (TPT), saying, “But the one who joins himself to the Lord is mingled into one spirit with Him.”
The Cross: The Ultimate Awakening
As Christians, we often view the Cross solely as a legal transaction for our sins—which it is—but it is also the place where humanity was grafted back into Divinity. This is an astonishing revelation!
The Veil is Removed: In the Old Covenant, a physical veil in the temple separated man from the Holy of Holies. When Jesus breathed His last, that veil was torn (see Matthew 27:50-51; Mark 15:37-38; Luke 23:45-46).
The Place of the Skull: Jesus was crucified at Golgotha, which literally means "the place of the skull." Prophetically, this is significant. Our "temple" is our body (1 Cor 6:19), and often, the "veil" that blocks us from seeing God is the carnal mind—the "skull." In Christ, that mental veil is removed so that we can see spiritually (2 Cor. 3:14).
Co-Crucifixion: Paul says in Galatians 2:20 (TPT), “My old identity has been co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives His life through me— we live in union as one!” Think about that imagery: When someone was nailed to a cross in ancient times, they basically became one with that tree. All throughout the scriptures, we see that trees often symbolize mankind. When Jesus (Divinity) was nailed to the Cross (a tree representing dead humanity), the two came together; the two were fused. You were included in that moment on the Cross and Divinity became one with humanity. Wow!! Hallelujah!

“Unboxing” God: Mansions, Realms, and Dimensions
Many of us have put God in a “tiny box” of tradition without even realizing it. We limit Him to one interpretation or one "level" of understanding when it comes to the Scriptures, Who He is or what He can do. But Jesus said, "In My Father’s house are many mansions" (John 14:2).
The Greek word for mansions (monē) can be translated as dwelling places, but it also carries the weight of rooms, realms, or dimensions. Isn’t this mind-blowing to ponder?! God is Limitless and so are His Heavenly realms!
God is also infinite and the universe—which is just the physical "shell" of creation—was created by Him. He has always existed - before creating the universe and He is beyond it. This obviously means that while we can be in awe of the universe (how could you not be!), we ought to worship the Creator of the universe and not His creation.
Now, in order that we may be enlightened and experience a true spiritual awakening, we must ensure that only the true light is involved. The scriptures tell us that Jesus is the Light of the world (John 8:12, 9:5, 12:46; 1 John 5:7). The danger is in no realizing that the devil masquerades as angle of light. This lets us know that there is True light and a counterfeit light. We only want to enlightened by the True Light.
When we are enlightened, we "awake" (as mentioned in Ephesians 5:14: "Awake, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you"). This doesn’t mean that we are joining a "movement." We are awakening to the reality (truth) that we are mingled with the Divine (God, Creator of all). Even the apostle Paul prayed by the Spirit (in Ephesians 1:18 TPT), saying, “I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of His calling —that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that He finds in us, his holy ones!” This awakening to our oneness radically transforms our minds (Romans 12:2) and our lives!
As 1 Corinthians 6:17 (TPT) says:
"But the one who joins himself to the Lord is mingled into one spirit with Him."
Here’s another example: think of a cup of tea (symbolic of you) where you've stirred in honey (symbolizing God’s Spirit) - once stirred and mingled, can you separate the honey from the tea? No. In this same way, you are not one with God and you cannot be separated!! Wow!! This is now your reality! Your spirit is now joined to the Holy Spirit!
How to Posture Your Heart for Deeper Things
When you hear things that challenge your current perspective, the natural human reaction is to judge, criticize or flat-out reject. But if you want to grow, the best posture of the heart is Awe and Wonder. Remember that Jesus wants us to humble ourselves like a child (Matthew 18:3). If something doesn't make sense when we hear it, don't throw it away. Instead, ask: "Lord, I hear what this is saying. It’s new to me. Can You please show me the truth in this?" When you hear someone teaching something and you’re unsure, learn to ask with a heart intention and motive to understand rather than to trap them or debate.
This is a respectful and wise way to learn. The Holy Spirit (our only Spirit Guide) will lead you into all truth. He is your Guide. The Scriptures say, “He is the Holy Spirit, Who leads into all truth” (John 14:17 NLT). Revelation is also progressive and will expand as you walk out your relationship with God through the years. As you ponder and meditate on what you learn, you will allow God to pour into you, His divine insight and in this way, your walk with God will never be boring. You will be growing from faith to faith and glory to glory (2 Cor. 3:18).

Entering a state of deep prayer and meditation can be difficult when your brain is racing with "beta" waves (stress and logic). You are now well on your journey of awakening. Remember, you aren't trying to get to God; you are learning to realize He is already there and there is no separation between you and God. It doesn’t mean “you” are God. No, that is what new agers and other teach, but you are one with God. Big difference. Divine union & Divine oneness is your true reality. All you needed was someone to explain it to you, so that your awareness would awaken to this.
